Last Saturday we hosted the awards for the children who completed this year’s reading challenge.
Every year, thousands of families all over the country take part in the UK’s biggest reading event for children in libraries, the Summer Reading Challenge, run by the charity The Reading Agency.
The aim of the challenge is to get children to read any six books of their choice from their library during the summer holidays.
It was well attended and this year our special guest was PCSO Roger Shalome who kept all mischief makers in check as well as presenting the medals and certificates to the children who had completed the challenge!
Well done to all those who took part!
Every year there’s a different theme. The Summer Reading Challenge 2018 was called Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved iconic children’s title Beano, which celebrated its 80th anniversary.
